1. Introduction
Welcome to Mando ("Mando" or the "App"), a mandala generation tool designed for use within the Canva platform. Mando is published and operated by Mr. Paolo Straet ("we," "us," or "our"). By accessing or using Mando, you ("User," "you," or "your") agree to be bound by the following terms, privacy practices, and support guidelines. If you do not agree with any part of this document, you must not use Mando.
This document combines the Terms of Service, Privacy Policy, and Support Information into a single, unified page for your convenience.
2. Description of Mando
Mando is a creative tool that helps you generate and customize beautiful mandala illustrations directly inside Canva. With Mando, you can:
- Choose between 18 different mandala families (Petals, Lotus, Sunburst, Islamic, Circles, Flower of Life, Polygons, Spiral, Kaleidoscope, Labyrinth, Fractal, Waves, Dreamcatcher, Gemstone, Web, Hindu, Buddhist, and Rose Window).
- Select between Colored and Coloring (line art) modes.
- Adjust complexity with customizable parameters: number of petals/radial sections (4-24), number of layers (1-5), and export resolution (800-1600px).
- Choose from 37 carefully curated color palettes, each with 4-color harmony systems, or generate and shuffle random colors.
- Generate mazes enhanced with decorative elements tailored to each mandala family.
Under the hood, Mando uses its own mandala-generation engine (including geometric algorithms, layer composition, and color harmony) to create layouts that match your aesthetic preferences and requirements. Mandalas are rendered as SVG and then inserted directly into your Canva designs.
Mando uses the Canva Apps SDK and the @canva/app-ui-kit for its user interface elements and integration. Mando runs exclusively within the Canva platform and cannot be used outside of Canva.
3. License to Use
Subject to your full compliance with these Terms, we grant you a limited, personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, non-sublicensable, and revocable license to use Mando solely for personal or internal business purposes, strictly within the Canva platform and in accordance with its intended functionality.
Mandatory Restrictions
You are strictly prohibited from:
- Copying, decompiling, reverse engineering, disassembling, or attempting to derive the source code of Mando or any part thereof.
- Distributing, selling, renting, leasing, lending, assigning, or sublicensing Mando.
- Using Mando in any way that damages, disables, overburdens, disrupts, or impairs the App, our servers, the Canva platform, or connected networks.
- Using Mando for any illegal, fraudulent, unauthorized, or unethical purpose, or in violation of these Terms or Canva's terms of service.
4. Relationship with Canva
Mando functions entirely within the Canva platform. Your use of Canva is governed solely by Canva's own Terms of Service and Privacy Policy. We are not responsible for Canva's features, availability, policies, or data handling.
Any issues related to Canva itself (such as your Canva account, billing, or design storage) are handled directly by Canva and not by us.
5. Intellectual Property
a) Our Property
All rights, title, and interest in Mando—including its software code, user interface, visual design, and underlying mandala-generation and decoration technology—are owned exclusively by Paolo Straet and/or our licensors.
Nothing in these Terms transfers any intellectual property rights to you, except for the limited license granted in Section 3. You obtain no rights in or to Mando other than the right to use it in accordance with these Terms.
b) Your Created Content
You retain full and exclusive ownership of any mandala images, compositions, or designs that you create using Mando. We claim no rights over your content. You are free to use, modify, distribute, or commercialize the content you create with Mando, subject to Canva's own terms and applicable law.
c) Third-Party Libraries and Assets
Mando uses third-party libraries and assets under their respective licenses. In particular:
Canva Apps SDK & UI Kit
Mando uses the Canva Apps SDK and components from the @canva/app-ui-kit to integrate into the Canva editor and provide a consistent user interface. These components are used under Canva's terms for app developers.
Algorithms and Utilities
Mando relies on an internal mandala engine built with common algorithmic techniques (such as geometric rendering, layer composition, and color harmony mathematics). Where appropriate, small open-source helper libraries may be used (for example, for randomization or geometry), each governed by its own license.
Icons and Visual Assets
Mando uses icons from the @phosphor-icons/react library and other open-source icon sets. These icons are used to represent different mandala families, tools, and interface elements. Icons are used under their respective open licenses.
Exact attributions and credits are displayed within the Mando app interface (for example, in the help and settings sections), so users can clearly see and acknowledge the original authors.
These third-party components remain the property of their respective authors. Their use in Mando does not imply endorsement by the original creators.
6. Your Responsibilities for Content
You are solely responsible for all content you create using Mando. You agree that your content will:
- Not infringe any third-party rights, including copyright, trademark, trade secret, or other proprietary rights.
- Comply with all applicable local, national, and international laws and regulations.
- Adhere strictly to Canva's Terms of Use and Content Policies, including any rules about prohibited or restricted content.
If you create or share content that violates these requirements, you are fully responsible for any resulting consequences, and we reserve the right to restrict or terminate your access to Mando.
7. Privacy Policy
We respect your privacy and are committed to minimizing data collection.
a) Information We Do NOT Collect
Mando does not collect, store, transmit, or process any personally identifiable information (PII), including but not limited to:
- Your name
- Your email address
- Your Canva account details
- The contents of your Canva designs
- Your generated mandalas or design preferences
We do not use cookies, web beacons, or similar tracking technologies within Mando.
b) Aggregated, Anonymous Data
Canva may provide us with aggregated, non-identifiable usage data related to Mando (for example, how often the app is opened or which mandala families are most popular). This information is used solely to analyze performance, improve features, and better understand general usage patterns.
This data does not contain personal identifiers and cannot be used to identify you personally.
c) Third-Party Services
Mando relies on the Canva platform to function. Canva has its own privacy practices that determine how your data is collected, stored, and processed within Canva. We encourage you to review Canva's Privacy Policy to understand how your data is handled at the platform level.
8. Disclaimer of Warranties & Limitation of Liability
Mando is provided to you "AS IS" and "AS AVAILABLE." To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties of any kind, whether express, implied, or statutory, including but not limited to implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, title, and non-infringement.
We do not warrant that Mando will:
- Be error-free, uninterrupted, or available at all times.
- Meet your specific requirements or expectations.
- Be free of viruses, security vulnerabilities, or other harmful components.
Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law:
- In no event shall Paolo Straet be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages (including loss of profits, data, goodwill, or business opportunities) arising out of or in connection with your use of or inability to use Mando.
- Our total cumulative liability to you for any and all claims related to Mando shall not exceed €10.00.
Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion of certain warranties or the limitation of liability for certain types of damages. In such cases, the above limitations may apply only to the extent permitted by applicable law.
9. Term and Termination
These Terms take effect when you first access or use Mando and remain in force until terminated.
We may suspend or terminate your access to Mando immediately, without prior notice, if:
- You breach any provision of these Terms, or
- We are required to do so by law, a court order, or a request from a government or regulatory authority, or
- We decide, at our sole discretion, to discontinue Mando.
Upon termination, your right to use Mando will cease immediately. Provisions that by their nature should survive termination (including but not limited to Sections 5, 6, 8, 9, 10, and 11) shall remain in effect.
10. Governing Law & Dispute Resolution
These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of Belgium, without regard to its conflict-of-law principles.
Any dispute, claim, or controversy arising out of or relating to these Terms or your use of Mando shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Liège, Belgium.
11. Miscellaneous Provisions
Entire Agreement: These Terms constitute the entire agreement between you and us regarding Mando and supersede any prior or contemporaneous agreements, understandings, or communications, whether written or oral.
Severability: If any provision of these Terms is found to be invalid, illegal, or unenforceable, the remaining provisions shall remain in full force and effect.
No Waiver: Our failure to enforce any right or provision of these Terms shall not be deemed a waiver of such right or provision.
Assignment: You may not assign or transfer these Terms, or any of your rights or obligations hereunder, without our prior written consent. We may assign or transfer these Terms, in whole or in part, at any time without restriction.
